Lee Gan, Goh, et al. Ageing in Singapore the Next 50 Years. Gerontological Society, Singapore, 2015.

This book was created by three council members (2014-2015) of the Gerontological Society of Singapore with contributions from various professionals practicing or researching in eldercare. The authors set out to share insights of successful ageing in the past 50 years and to propose new strategies to help Singaporeans age well in the next 50 years. Key issues such as the increasing proportion of seniors, declining old-age support ratio, health and mobility are clearly illustrated with supporting figures. The authors highlight the importance of human-centric approaches, cultivating an inclusive society and how we should view the old as social capital instead of a liability. This book adds crucial background information and relevant data of the ageing situation in Singapore to my research. In addition, the proposals on how we can provide for the matured generation would be beneficial when I am shaping and formulating my own strategies.
